The answer to this question is simple: the benefits of outsourcing are for SMEs evenly applicable as for larger organisations. Of course off shoring to countries like China, India and the Philippines might be a bit exotic for SMEs compared to larger organisations. Outsourcing to a different culture and time zone is for trans-national organisation not a big issue, compared to SMEs. These organisations work already international and offshoring can be a logical and easier step.

For SMEs it would be more advisable to work with a nearshore model of outsourcing and consider the Eastern European market. Thereby you are able to benefit from smaller culture differences, the same time zone, and lower wage costs and off course a network of good suppliers. Even cooperating with various suppliers would deliver advantages.
